Illo Friday - Tango!

I know I haven't been doing these very regularly but when I saw this week's prompt I couldn't resist.

Ironically, tango is Syd's least. favorite. dance. EVER. And it is not super high on my list of favorite dances, although oddly enough I really love paso doble. Go figure.

Yeah I kind of think now you should be able to see her other foot. o.0 Oh well.

Illo Friday - Flawed

I had a lot of trouble coming up with one for this week's prompt. "Flawed". >.< Finally, I ended up with something that programmers end up concluding - the logic is flawed. :P And then into the mix I threw the thought (actually had a discussion about this) that in the movies, monsters inevitably have a chance to eat people or whatever very easily, but they always wait until the person realizes there is a monster (instead of ignoring it or thinking that it is someone playing a prank). I know this is to create suspense, but it is still kind of odd. So...poor Jimmy doesn't live in the movies where monsters only believe in you if you believe in them!

Am I slightly morbid? My people always DIE. lol Oh well...c'est la vie.

Illo Friday - Climbing

No..I've never even been to NYC, but an awful lot of exciting things sure do happen there if you believe the movies!

Okay, so this is my illustration for this week's prompt, "Climbing". The question is supposed to be something a little kid would ask, and I was going for a very simple, very cartoony child-book-illustration-like drawing. I spent a lot of the afternoon doing a comic for my brother so that took all of my artistic juice. :P Or something. I didn't even come up with a good idea for this prompt until this morning. Next week I think I will have to do something non-digital. Maybe I should have done this one non-digital. Oh well.

Illo Friday - pale

What is more pale than Snow White? "Hair black as ebony, lips red as the rose, skin white as snow..."

Pretty happy with the expression, less happy with the bangs. Sigh.

Illustration Friday challenge for 1/9/09..."Contained". I know she has anatomical problems (don't look at her left hand...just don't), and the coloring is very flat, but that is partly because I wanted it to look that way, and partly because I was too lazy to fix things (like her hand >.<). Hey, I have a migraine...you know, these things happen. Sigh.

So this is the first IlloFri challenge thingy I have done in a realllllllly long time but I am going to try to do them every week this year. Try. Probably will not succeed, but I will try.

Illo Friday - Under the Sea

OMG, *shock*, I finally did another prompt! During *gasp* the week before finals!
...bad me.


However, I just couldn't resist. I love fish. I love the sea. So I did something really simple. Since my scanner is currently non-existant (read the post below), I had to do it on the comp. It's Chinese Brush Painting style fish! Yay, I love fish! And I love Chinese. And they are such pretty fish! And I wrote in Chinese "We like fish." and I signed with my Chinese name, Lin Gui (characters in the right hand bottom corner) as well as my real name.

Now I should go study again. Or something.

Illo Friday - Depth

So one of the IlloFriday (www.illustrationfriday.com) promts was "depth" so this phrase randomly popped into my head! ^_^

I drew this in comp programming class..hehe. Don't be like me. Don't draw in class!
I'm really pleased with how this came out, which is why I'm posting it here. It took me a week to finish (no time! ) and another week to scan (b/c I have to use my Dad's laptop, long story).


In italics was my comment from when I actually did this, but I didn't get it posted up here until now and it was a prompt from sometime last fall.


Now I don't have a scanner at all, because the software made the comp downstairs go wacko so we had to uninstall it, and then we could only use it on my Dad's laptop but then that went kaput, so...eventually I am going to try to install it on my laptop but I don't want to do that until I'm done with finals (a week from Tuesday! YAY! less than one more week of evilness!).

So my brother got this new CD; the soundtrack of Disney's The Emperor's New Groove...and yeah the "theme song" has been stuck in my head all day.

yeah, they lyrics to the song (well, some of them) are in back of kuzco. I know his face is a little strange. Oh well. I can't do faces. Bleh. Yeah, I made the position up because there weren't any good reference pictures...which may be why his face is a little weird? I dunno. Anyways.

Dreams and Penguins

Yeah, so I haven't updated in a while, I've been sick. :( Again. But I finally drew something today..it's a really quick drawing.

It's two blue penguins from a dream I had...with a race like "Amazing Race" but only for college students..and then I was holding blue penguins and they were SO CUTE! <3 And then somehow I ended up moving into a new (larger) dorm room with Irene and Karen after people were kicked out of the race? Or something strange like that. So..I want blue penguins! The drawing could've been better but it's late and I'm sick and I'm going to bed now. Maybe some other time I shall do a better job.

Bloom

Okay, this was done from Illustration Friday's weekly prompt (my first time!). It's not terribly good but I don't have much time. Her face looks a little bit flat. Blah.

I was originally going to do a seed and flower pots and I may do that later but..I dunno..my people drawing needs help, and this popped into my head. It's kindof Thumbelina..kind of. Sometimes I draw people really well (note the first blog entry) and then other times..eck. Plus I didn't want to shade flowerpots on the computer and my scanner is half broken, so...yeah. And my colored pencils are at school.
